ABU DHABI // An Emirati woman died in a collision on the Sheikh Khalifa Highway on Monday afternoon.
The woman, who was driving a Lexus Station, crashed into a lorry towards Dubai, near the Adnoc petrol station. The crash caused both vehicles to catch on fire, Abu Dhabi Police said, according to Wam, the state news agency.
Traffic patrols and ambulance vehicles rushed to the scene to investigate. The body of the woman was transported to hospital.
Abu Dhabi Police urged motorists to abide by traffic laws and speed limits, and leave enough distance between vehicles.
Abu Dhabi traffic officials warned motorists that all lanes had been blocked on the highway because of the collision, causing heavy delays.
