ABU DHABI // The UAE has received a formal UN request to join the High-Level Advisory Group for the Every Woman – Every Child movement.

Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union, received the letter from the United Nations on Sunday.

Reem Al Falasi, secretary general of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, has been nominated to represent the UAE at the advisory group.

Sheikha Fatima said the request by the world body was a major global recognition, “reflecting the outstanding stature achieved by the UAE in various fields”.

The advisory group aids UN secretary general Ban Ki-moon and guides the development of the Every Woman – Every Child movement.
