Parents have been advised on the importance of vaccinations for their children as World Immunisation Week is recognised in the UAE.

Dr Laila Al Jasmi, head of the Ministry of Health and Prevention’s vaccination department, advised parents on the importance of taking their children to healthcare centres for basic vaccines according to their age, to raise their immunity against infectious diseases.

The statement came as the ministry, along with Health Authority Abu Dhabi and Dubai Health Authority, mark World Immunisation Week. The occasion is organised by the World Health Organisation and aimed at promoting vaccination through educational activities and lectures.

Dr Hussein Al Rand, assistant undersecretary for health centres and clinics at the ministry, said it aims to spread knowledge about vaccination and immunisation of children against infectious diseases.
