UAE news in review 2015: Tourism focus for Ajman while Umm Quwain pushes outdoor activity

AJMAN// The last 12 months saw numerous notable developments in both Ajman and Umm Al Quwain.

In Ajman, tourism was the focus, with the announcement of plans to build a new souq to showcase the heritage and crafts of the emirate. Schemes to invest Dh2.1 billion in an international airport and build new golf courses, marinas and hotels were also revealed.

As for residents, they were able to enjoy three new parks opening in the Dh100 million marina project.

People living in UAQ were cheered by the opening of a Dh200 million track for cyclists and joggers as well as an outdoor exercise area.

The upgrade of roads was also a priority, with a promised completion date for the Al Etihad Bridge to connect UAQ with its neighbouring emirates.
