ABU DHABI // The UAE’s first specialist occupational health medical facility was opened by Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak, Minister of Culture and Knowledge Development, on Wednesday

The Holistic Medical Centre, which will specialise in workplace health and safety, is the fourth of its kind in the world, with similar facilities in Japan, the UK and the US, reported state news agency Wam.

The centre’s chief executive, Dr Nahyan Helal, is the first specialist Emirati doctor in occupational medicine and occupational health.

He said that the centre has the capacity to treat more than 300 patients per day, served by occupational health specialists, general practitioners, and other specialists.

“We are confident of offering a fast, professional and efficient service to the employers and employees. We can provide a full range of health screening checks from basic to executive levels,” he said.

HMC has been supported by the Khalifa Fund, which aims to create a new generation of Emirati entrepreneurs.
