ABU DHABI // Sawab Centre has expanded its fight against ISIL propaganda online by launching a Facebook page.
The centre, a joint UAE-US programme to combat extremist propaganda on social media, has already attracted more than 36,000 Facebook followers in its first month.
In collaboration with the Global Coalition to Counter Daesh and other governmental and non-governmental partners, including religious leaders, the centre works to expose ISIL’s misrepresentation of Islam, reported state news agency Wam.
The centre monitors messages from ISIL and works to counter them through social media platforms in English and Arabic.
Since its launch in July 2015, the centre, in Abu Dhabi, has been active on Twitter, Instagram and YouTube, and its messages have reached millions of people.
