ABU DHABI // The UAE Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) is studying the quality of service provided by telecommunications operators in the country with a view to boosting customer satisfaction.
Hamad Obaid Al Mansouri, TRA director-general, stressed it remained fully committed to safeguarding subscribers.
“The TRA initiative is being implemented under the guidance of the President Sheikh Khalifa who has constantly emphasised the importance of improvement and rendering high-quality, world class services in developing areas and cities,” he said.
Mohammed Al Saadi, TRA telecom network operations manager, said monitoring had begun to assess the quality of communications networks, particularly in developing areas.
Service providers will issue proposed action plans to the TRA detailing how they will address problems along with reports on coverage. The reports will be made available to the public on the TRA website.
Licensed operators will be assessed on the quality of voice services and data services – including the level of mobile phone coverage and the success rate of completing calls.
