DUBAI // A metalworker who sent inappropriate images of his ex-wife to her new husband and posted them on social media in an attempt to end their marriage has been jailed for three months.
Dubai Criminal Court convicted the 42-year-old Pakistani of issuing threats and invading the privacy of his former spouse by posting pictures of her almost naked on Twitter, Whatsapp, Imo, Facebook and Google Plus.
A month after the Pakistani woman married for a second time, her new husband received phone calls from her ex.
“He told him I was a bad woman and must be divorced or else he would cause us problems,” said the 24-year-old.
She said her husband received several near naked images of her from her ex on the Imo app. Two days later, the husband reported the incident to police.
Prosecutors said the defendant confessed to all charges during interrogations but denied them in court.
However, he was convicted and will be deported after serving his prison sentence. His phone, containing photos of his ex-wife, was also confiscated.
