AJMAN // A 51-year-old man has died in a collision between two vehicles on Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road in Ajman.

The Emirati was driving a Suzuki Vitara towards Sharjah when another vehicle, a Toyota Fortuner, driven by an Asian motorist entered his path from an Enoc petrol station.

The Vitara rolled four times and then went on fire, said Colonel Ali Hamid Al Museiba, director of Traffic and Patrols Department at Ajman Police.

“The police patrols and ambulance immediately moved to the scene when the operations room received a call about the accident. The Emirati was extracted from the car before it burned and he was transferred to a hospital but died due to his severe injures,” said Col Al Museiba.

The Asian motorist entered the road without ensuring that the lane was free, which led to the crash, the colonel added. He did not suffer any injuries and his car only had minor damages.

“The driver was arrested and transferred to Hamidiya police station, and the case will be transferred to traffic prosecution to continue the legal procedures,” Col Al Museiba said.

He asked all motorists to ensure the road is clear before proceeding.
