For the May fashion editorial, the Luxury team travelled to Oman to shoot against the rugged beauty of the Alila Jabal Akhdar resort.

Set high in the Hajar Mountains, atop dramatic cliffs, the resort is blessed with the sorts of views that one normally crosses continents to find. Perched on a plateau, the resort sits above looming rocks and vertigo-inducing cliffs, offering expansive views across the entire valley. And it’s not just the vista – sitting at an altitude of 3,000 metres, it is much cooler here than in the surrounding region, making this a perfect place to escape the summer heat of the UAE.

Teaming up with French photographer Roc Chaliand for a second time after March’s haute couture shoot in Paris, the crew rose before dawn to catch the early light on the mountains, and was rewarded with heavy, cloud-laden skies and dark grey light, which helped set the mood for the story. The evocative backdrop perfectly sets the scene for the dramatic clothes, provided by brands such as Gucci, Prada, Saint Laurent and Salvatore Ferragamo.
