DUBAI // Emiratis will be exempted from a 10 per cent fee on weddings at Dubai hotels, starting next month.
Dubai Municipality said the decision, which goes into effect on August 1, is aimed at raising the level of happiness among its customers and as part of its social responsibility, according to Aletihad, the Arabic sister paper of The National.
Mohammed Julfar, assistant director general for corporate support at the municipality, said the department wants to support soon-to-be newlyweds and alleviate their financial burdens.
The fees amounted to 10 per cent of the total event cost, with a maximum limit of Dh15,000 per wedding, Mr Julfar said.
