UMM AL QUWAIN // An Emirati man was shocked to receive a Dh2 million water and electricity bill for January.
It was one of 300 faulty invoices to be mistakenly issued by the Federal Electricity and Water Authority (Fewa).
Fewa said they were updating the data for 300,000 customers in the northern emirates onto a new system which aims to improve customer service and speed up procedures.
During the process, some 300 bills were incorrectly calculated and issued, said Mohammed Saleh, director general at Fewa.
The Fewa customer service and call centre have been informed of the errors and will notify the affected customers.
