DUBAI // A man died after being run over by an ambulance on Sunday.

The Pakistani was stood at the scene of another traffic accident on Al Madam Road when he was hit by the ambulance, which was transporting an injured person to a hospital, reported Al Ittihad, the Arabic-language sister newspaper of The National.

The 40-year-old later died of his injuries.

Sharjah Police asked residents to refrain from gathering around accident sites as they may obstruct traffic and impede civil defence teams.

In 2015, forty-six people were killed in run-over incidents in Dubai, an increase from 39 in 2014.

Last week, Dubai Police launched their annual three-month long Cross Safely Campaign to raise awareness of the dangers of crossing roads from undesignated areas
