See Gidon Kremer and Khatia Buniatishvili perform with Kremerata Baltica tonight in Al Ain as part of Abu Dhabi Classics. Kremer, the Latvian violinist and conductor, and Buniatishvili, the Georgian pianist who featured on Coldplay’s track Kaleidoscope, are joined by the chamber orchestra made up of young musicians from the Baltic countries to perform an array of works including The Seasons Digest by Raskatov as well as pieces by Mendelssohn. Watch a screening of the animated 2014 film Song of the Sea, directed by Tomm Moore, as part of Cinema Akil’s Cinema In the Park. The story is based on the Celtic myth of selkies, women who live as seals in the sea but become human on land. Ben and Saoirse live in a lighthouse with their widower father. Six-year-old Saoirse, who does not speak, discovers a shell flute that belonged to her mother and begins to create music as a means of communication and discovers it is the key to a magical secret. Attend Desert Storm, an event curated by Noor Al Suwaidi that promotes musical talent from the Middle East. Hear hip-hop artists Narcy and Sons of Yusuf, as well as the alternative/cinematic-pop artist Rotana Tarabzouni.
